Why G Cups Have Two Support Options (and How to Pick the Right One)

If you wear a G cup bra and you’ve shopped with us before, you’ve probably wondered, “Why am I being shown two different versions of the same bra?” Well, you’re actually part of a very special group that gets double the choice when you shop with Rose & Thorne.

We offer two different support levels, one that goes up to a G cup, and another for G cup+, and because you sit in the middle, you can pick either.

Here’s everything you need to know about both options to help you make the best choice for your body.

G cup, the crossover size

Bra sizing is based on volume, but as cup sizes increase, the amount of support a bra needs to provide increases too. G cup is where many women start to feel the limits of what a standard bra structure can handle.

That’s why our Full Cup range finishes at G cup. At this size, the Full Cup design is doing the most it reasonably can. We’ve then created our Premium Support collection, which starts at G cup and has a support design that makes more sense for larger breasts. Rather than drawing a line in the sand, we offer our G cup ladies both options, so you can decide which best works for you.

When Full Cup is the better choice

If you’re a G cup and your bras generally feel comfortable all day long, Full Cup may be all you need.

Our Full Cup bras are designed to give good coverage and a flattering shape at C to G cup sizes. Many women prefer this option if they like a lighter feel, wear their bras for shorter stretches, or simply don’t notice discomfort creeping in as the hours pass.

If your bra feels supportive without relying on tight straps, and you’re not constantly adjusting it, start with a Full Cup and see how you get on. But, if you have top-heavy boobs that spill over standard cups, or you have a small body that means your bra has less to anchor to, Premium Support could be worth considering.

When Premium Support might feel better

If you’ve noticed that your bras feel fine at first but don’t hold up as well over the course of the day, Premium Support is for you.

Premium Support bras use firmer internal frames and more inwardly curved underwires. The wire sits higher at the centre front and under the arm, which helps draw breast tissue in from the sides. It also allows us to add more coverage at the top of the cup, which makes everything feel a bit more contained and secure.

You’ll notice our Premium Support bras are modelled on plus-size women, but they’re suitable for all band sizes because the support is based on cup volume. In fact, at first glance, there’s very little visual difference between the bras themselves, other than a slightly higher cup. It’s in the structure where all the magic happens. That means you can enjoy our full range of gorgeous bras in your favourite colours, while getting the support that makes you feel as good as you look.

Still unsure? Talk to us!

Remember, being a G cup doesn’t mean you’re hard to fit, it means you get two great options instead of one!

If you’d like help deciding, our team can walk you through it in an online fitting (no awkward changing room required). Once you’ve chatted to us about what you like and dislike about other bras, and we’ve seen how your favourite bra fits, we’ll be able to point you in the right direction.
